Gray Mare and her Colts

Gray Mare and her Colts is a chambered long barrow and seems to be named after what remaining stones rather than the long barrow part. The stones at the southern end are the remains of a crescentic entrance and possibly part of the chamber itself. The barrow itself is twenty or so meters long but may have been shortened by ploughing over the years. The Gray Mare and her Colts can be reached via the footpath to the north east of Gorwell farm, off the Bishops Road ( the footpath also leads to Kingston Russell stone circle about another mile away ), also the Valley of Stones is a short distance to the north east.
