Standing stone have always meant something important to humans. The ancients used them to mark their meeting places and their places of worship. They used them to mark and calculate the movements of the sun and the moon and the seasons. And deep down, maybe on a subconscious level they still mean something to us today, thousands of years later. Have you ever driven past Stonehenge? Did you glance across at the stones? A long lingering look? Perhaps you saw them and decided to have a closer look? Don't worry, you are not alone. I would say it almost impossible not to look. Avebury and Stanton Drew too. We are drawn to these ancient sites. We wonder about the history, why they were built, how they were used , what it was like to live with them. Next time you see some standing stones stop the car, explore them, think about them. It's ok you have Stoneitus.
