Stanton Drew Stone Circles

Stanton Drew has three stone circles and a three stone 'cove' and can be found south of Bristol, off the A37 just north of Pensford, just outside the village itself although access is via the village. The Great Circle is the second largest stone circle in Britain the largest being Avebury, 27 of the original 30 stones still survive giving a diameter of 113 meters and was surrounded by a ditch. The other two circles are smaller at 43 and 30 meters diameter. The 'cove' is separate from the circles and is situated in the garden of the Druid's Arms public house. The cove consists of two standing stones and one recumbent stone.
